Sagamore: Unknown Elevator At Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall (With Ride!)
It was Labor Day, and we were heading home from the Cape. We stopped at the nearly dead Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall and walked for one last time. It is so sad how the mall degraded over the past 1/2 decade. I think it got worse since the last time visited. Carter’s, Obgsh Bgosh (IDK the spelling), a mini store called the “Cape Cod Caboose,” and a few other stores are still thriving. I don’t know how much longer the mall will be here.
Somehow I was semi able to get one last ride of the elevator here which surprisingly still works well, no death trap characteristics, or anything. My dad got yelled at for letting me ride the elevator by a mall employee (although it was my fault for my poor decision). Moments later, a sign that said “Out Of Order” was placed over the call button by the same lady who yelled at my dad. Who would be not believe that if they peek through the doors or hear the fan running???!!! Probably me =-D.

An outlet store or factory outlet or “Best Saving Outlet” is a retail store in which manufacturers sell their stock directly to the public through their own branded stores. Often these stores are grouped together in outlet malls. The invention of the retail outlet store is often credited to Harold Alfond, founder of the Dexter Shoe Company.
Clothing, sporting goods, electrical products, cosmetics, and toys are among the types of items sold at outlet malls.
Outlet malls first appeared in the US as a development of the traditional factory outlet: a store attached to a factory or warehouse. An outlet mall places several such outlets under one roof in a convenient location, usually an “out-of-town” site. The out-of-town site minimizes overhead costs.
Although Canada has its own outlet malls, American outlet malls located in border states have become tremendously popular with Canadians engaging in cross-border shopping.

Elevator at Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall (Couldn’t Ride)
This was supposed to be a video of the elevator at the Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall in Bourne, Massachusetts. There was nothing in the basement area except for storage (BTW, I could see a Santa’s Mailbox down there). The basement area used to be a Buck a Book store-hence the green doors. The entire shaft exterior used to be green hence Buck A Book’s color scheme, too. Buck A Book left the mall in 2006. I remember that very well, and there was supposed to be a men’s clothing store down there. I made a pilgrimage to the mall on December 30, 2008 when going home, and to my surprise there was STILL nothing down there. They still have been using that area for storage. When I looked down there then, I saw two helium tanks. You would think that they added another store by two years! I don’t think they will add another shop anytime soon. By the way, this mall is sad itself. about 1/2 of the original stores are gone. You could call this mall the Cape Cod Factory EMPTY Mall because of the empty stores. This elevator and mall is a childhood memory for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!
My possible guesses for the elevator would be either OTIS, ESCO, or Dover.

Walking inside the Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall
This mall is somewhat of an epic fail. Most of the shops are gone, and this is a low-traffic mall. I wonder how the mall started to go downhill…
