Need advice on giving memory gifts for a baby's baptism?
I’ve gathered up these gifts. Around 20 people will come so:

    1. Baby shoe with the name, date of baptism + birthday

    2. (cheaper alternative?) Buy baby socks and connected to a pin, will be a ribbon having the name, date of baptism etc.

    3. A small picture of the baby and a magnet on the back. Picture will be on a wooden, oval back with decorations around it.

    Any other ideas???

I mean no disrespect when I say this. There are a ton of new babies in my family. My daughter has a ton of cousins within 3 years of her age. I’ve seen a huge amount of all the keepsake baby junk out there. The only people who are going to keep this keepsake is the grandparents and you. A nice refrigerator magnet would be the best use of your money… Lots of people will stick a magnet up on the fridge… but if you give them a baby shoe or sock its going straight into the box of junk you are obligated to keep and will never have a use for.

I like the magnet idea - because if I got the memory gift of #1 or #2, frankly I wouldnt know what to do with it.

I have a question? what is the point of getting a baby baptized? when they haven’t committed any sins or will not not that what they have done is wrong? I know its your choice I guess I just believe a child or a baby for that matter should not be baptized until they are old enough to understand what it all means.

Buy a picture book and put the pictures of the baptism in it. Ont he front, put a picture of the baby and put her/his full name on. Then "Baptism". And then the date of the Baptism. Like this:

    (picture here)

    (baby’s full name here)

    (date od Baptism here)

    I hope I helped you. :)

Ditch #1 and #2 a big waste of your money. People aren’t going to keep it…seriously, what will they do with baby socks??

#3 would be the best bet.

Not sure why you need to give "memory gifts" for the baptism…I haven’t heard of that before.

I agree with the first couple answers… the best gift that people will probably keep is a picture of some sort. You can go to WalMart.com or any other picture website and have announcement cards made with a picture/pictures of the baby/family. You can get whatever you want written on them, too. They turn out like the Christmas cards people send with their pics on them, but you can choose any style that matches your event. They usually go for about 35 cents a piece, very cheap! :)

i would send out pictures like the other poster mentioned or have a bbq in honor of the baby. to me that would be the best way to honor the baptizm. i have never heard of giving away memory gifts and if i got a sock i wouldnt know what to do with it.

Is this your baby? Or a friends?

My son’s dedication is in a couple weeks, and I plan on buying him his first bible. He wont get much use out of it now, but it is something I want to get for him. I wanted it to come from me, and not anyone else. So that is always an idea for you if you wanted.

    "Baby’s First Bible"

    ….just a thought, good luck! :-)
